About Faina
Hi, this is Faina here. I am a Princeton New Jersey real estate agent, but also the The Princeton Real Estate Guide designer and author. The idea for this site is to provide information about living in the Princeton area and surrounding towns of Lawrenceville, Hopewell, West Windsor, Pennington, Montgomery and Princeton Junction.
All the information on the site is free to you. Do not be concerned with an obligation to buy anything. I have seen people “run” on hearing words “real estate agent”. The profession must have a bit of a bit rap, for high pressure sales:)
This site is the furthers from it. Relax and enjoy the information, no one will be selling you anything here. Including the search for all New Jersey Homes.
I have to confess the site is not free for me. I have to pay for all the bits and bytes stored on the remote server, for the Princeton home search function, and of course for hours of research and writing that goes into providing relevant information.
If I was you I could be thinking, why does she that (or as my kids say “what’s up with that“)? So, here are some of the reasons.
When I was transferred to a job in New York (yes, I had other life before real estate) it was difficult to decide where was the best area to buy a house given our budget. We wanted what mosy people do: g0od schools, safe neighborhoods, convenient commute to New Your and Philadelphia. We traveled up and down from Westchester, to Northern Jersey, and all the points in between trying to figure it out.
We wanted to find a home we could afford comfortably. At that time there was very little practical applicable information on the Internet. Real Estate agents web sites seemed to have same old, same old advice and tips. At best it was generic and not useful at worst it was pure hype about how great these agents were and how much stuff they were selling. It must have been good for the agents, but not useful for us.
I didn’t realize then the reason for these sites were so similar was because they were purchased from the same companies. Needless to say that people living in California could provide little relevant content for people in New Jersey.
When I became a real estate agent, I chose to do things very differently from other agents. I am not saying my method is the road to riches in real estate, so I don’t see it spreading like wilfire. In fact, I don’t know anyone else who does what I do.
I do two “strange” things. Instead of getting as many clients as possible, I limit the number of clients I have. A bit more about that later. Instead of keeping the information useful for buyers and sellers under wraps, or worst not having such information, I run several web site offering consumer information for home buyers and sellers.
You may be thinking :”there must be a catch somewhere. Why would anyone give away free information and limit the number of clients?”. Let me share the reasons for both.
Practice of real estate is limited by the number of hours in a day. It”s simple math. If an agent has 20 clients, each one gets 1/20 of the agents time. The simple truth is that the more clients the agent has -the less time each client gets. I did not like this system. I limit the number of clients - so each client gets enough time to buy their home without time pressure. The sellers get the time to make the marketing program for their home to be unique and outstanding. It’s hard (if not impossible) to do with many clients.
I admit to a selfish reason for my web sites. Investment of time and money not withstanding I discovered something wonderful in the process. Through my writing I was able to form relationships and communicate with my readers way before we ever met. My readers ( home buyers and sellers) have a chance to get to know me in the privacy of their computer. There is no hype, no sell. I tell it as I see it. Some like it, some not so much:) We become friends and they become my best clients because we share the same ideas of trust honesty and transparency.
There were other things I did before becoming New Jersey real estate agent in the Princeton area. Like managing technology departments of several large corporations; consulting to Fortune 500 as a Senior Principal for domestic and international consulting firms. I got an MSEE at 22 and must have been too young to choose a prefession then:) I ended up never working as an electrical engineer:)
I am married to a great guy and am a mommy to four kids of various ages and behaviors not always matching their ages:) They are my biggest accomplishment in life.
